Irrigation History

The Hohokam Indians of Arizona started building irrigation canals as early as 300 A.D. and contin- ued through 1450 A.D. During that time period, they built a total of over 600 miles of canals, which would be equi- valent to digging a canal from Salt Lake City Utah to Phoenix Arizona.
